Black Mu­sic Fes­ti­val

June­teenth cel­e­bra­tions con­tinue at Point State Park, Down­town, with the free Black Mu­sic Fes­ti­val, fea­tur­ing a range of gos­pel, jazz, blues, R&B and hip-hop.

The Thurs­day lineup is jazzy with vi­bra­phone leg­end Roy Ay­ers, sax­o­phon­ist Ger­ald Al­bright, Roger Hum­phries & RH Fac­tor, and the Univer­sity of Pitts­burgh’s Ni­cole Mitch­ell. It runs from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., with Mitch­ell be­gin­ning at 2 p.m.

It’s a gos­pel Fri­day be­gin­ning at 11 a.m., run­ning with a lineup of Ko­ryn Haw­thorne, LaShun Pace and Tye Trib­bett.

Satur­day gets smooth and funky with R&B band BlackStreet top­ping a day that also in­cludes Ruff Endz, Rose Royce and KYLMAXX.

Sun­day is a mix of jazz with Kevin Howard, the BB King Blues Band, neo­soul singer Dwele and hip-hop DJ Kid Ca­pri.

More Bites and Pints

Bites and Pints Food & Drink Fes­ti­val con­tin­ues at Ken­ny­wood with seven in­ter­na­tional cui­sine sta­tions around the La­goon area serv­ing chef-cre­ated tast­ings, spe­cialty cock­tails, craft beer and wine.

Chef Brian Pe­kar­cik, the cre­ative mind be­hind lo­cal restau­rants BRGR and Spoon, has cre­ated a menu in­spired by Ca­rib­bean, Chi­nese, French, Ger­man, Ital­ian, Jap­a­nese and Mex­i­can cui­sine.

It runs on Fri­days, Satur­days and Sun­days in June. Tast­ing hours are 4 to 9 p.m. Fri­days; 1 to 9 p.m. Satur­days; and 1 to 9 p.m. Sun­days.

Here is the week­end mu­sic lineup:

Fri­day: Pixe­lated Band (5-6:30 p.m.).

Satur­day: Bak­ers Base­ment (2-3 p.m.); Buck­wild (7-8 p.m.).

FRIDAY

Shake­down show

Nash­ville blues-rock­ers Tyler Bry­ant & The Shake­down, who have toured with Jeff Beck, ZZ Top and AC/​DC, among oth­ers, were set to spend the sum­mer of 2020 with Nick­el­back and Stone Temple Pilots.

In­stead, the band, which formed in 2009 and de­buted in 2013, as­sem­bled to record its fourth al­bum, “Pres­sure,” which was re­leased in Oc­to­ber.

They play Jer­gel’s in Mar­shall at 8 p.m. Tick­ets are $20 to $30; jer­gels.com.

Night Mar­ket Square

The Pitts­burgh Down­town Part­ner­ship’s Satur­day Night Mar­ket takes over Mar­ket Square, Down­town, from 5 to 10 p.m. with ar­ti­san craft ven­dors, food and mu­sic.

This week, the Manchester Crafts­men’s Guild will pres­ent Mark Jack­ovic and The Jazz In­flu­ence on Satur­day.

SUNDAY

Hart­wood Indigo

Indigo Girls were all set last year to tour on their 16th al­bum, “Look Long.”

In­stead, the Grammy-win­ning folk duo of Amy Ray and Emily Saliers, a sta­ple on Pitts­burgh’s WYEP-FM, ended up do­ing a weekly se­ries of stream­ing con­certs.

Now, they’ve hit the road and will come to Hart­wood Acres for a free con­cert. Fans can ex-

pect hits like “Closer to You” and “Ga­li­leo” mixed in with songs from “Look Long,” which AP called “a pas­sion­ate and tune­ful col­lec­tion.”

“We joke about be­ing old, but what is old when it comes to mu­sic?” Saliers said in a state­ment. “We’re still a bar band at heart. Our pas­sion for mu­sic feels the same as it did when we were 25 years old.”

The show is at 7:30 p.m. at the Hart­wood Acres am­phi­the­ater in Hamp­ton.


Ha­zel­wood Green

Pitts­burgh Afro­jazz/​funk group Afro Yaqui Mu­sic Col­lec­tive and rap­per Live­fromth­e­c­ity per­form a free con­cert at the Plaza at Ha­zel­wood Green, 4734 Second Ave., in Ha­zel­wood.

The eve­ning will also fea­ture ar­ti­sanal pop-ups, food truck bites from The Steer & Wheel and Pure Grub, and hand­made drinks.
